Boy who loves vacuums visits SharkNinja on World Wish Day

[Via WCVB5] NEEDHAM, Mass. — It might be an infomercial, but 14-year-old Nick Wachsmann is not acting.

For years, his family said he’s had a passion for house-cleaning. He has cystic fibrosis, and after seeing an infomercial starring SharkNinja’s CEO, Nick knew exactly what he’d say when the Make-A-Wish Foundation asked him what he wanted.

“Well, they didn’t show it on their faces,” Jane Wachsmann said. “But I’m sure they thought it was unique.”

Nick asked to travel from his home in Indiana to SharkNinja’s headquarters in Needham.

“I didn’t believe it,” said Mark Rosenzweig, CEO of SharkNinja. “I didn’t believe that there was a 14-year-old boy whose wish was to come here and learn more about the vacuums.”

Company workers welcomed Nick and his mom, then taught him how vacuums work and how new models are designed.

Before leaving Boston, Nick plans to visit the Public Garden and go on a duck boat tour, but for him, the highlight of the trip has already happened.

SharkNinja gave Nick the opportunity to design his own vacuum cleaner, and once it is built and delivered, his family’s home will be spotless and his wish will live on.
